Red Light District | Bangkok

There is more than one red light district in Bangkok. Once you have been here long enough the whole of Bangkok can feel like a red light district since there is usually a small bar just around the corner with some working girls inside you wont find this back in your native country as you more than likely need to head to some designated area if it is legalized. The main three areas for tourists where you will find in your face go-go bars, bars filled with working girls that are just waiting to let you know what a handsome man that you really are, until your money runs out of course. Here you are then the three main red light districts in Bangkok for tourists and expats are:

Nana - Red Light District

A walk along Sukhunvit Road Nana after 5 pm and you will start to see working girls heading to their place of employment for the night be it a beer bar usually the over 30 variety or to hang onto a pole whilst dancing it really is hard to know who's who as there is a mix of regular females just going about their business so don't think someone's a working girl who just happens to be walking along the footpath of Sukhumvit Road if you are approached by any one wearing a dress it will be more than likely be a ladyboy.

Sukhunvit Soi 4 NanaMost tourists head to Sukhumvit Soi 4 the home to Nana Plaza and multiply beer bars, massage shops and hotels some people travel to Bangkok on a short stay and may never exit Soi 4 except when they’re in a taxi heading back to the airport. Here at Sukhumvit Soi 4 you know that you are in the heart of a red light district in Bangkok. Nana Plaza home to three storey's of go-go bars there is a mix of beer bars and go-go bars on the ground floor.

Freelancers frequent Sukhumvit Soi 4 real females and ladyboys, most freelancers stand out front the Nana Hotel opposite Nana Plaza

If you want take a lady from the bar it will cost you on average between 500฿ and 800฿ but first negotiate with the lady how much she expects and come to a price you both agree on and stick to it then you wont have any problems later.

Asok - Red Light District

The home of Soi Cowboy a 200m long Soi housing around 30 go-go bars / beer bars with three venues featuring live music. Here at Soi Cowboy depending on which bar you enter it can seem quite classy then other bars with what goes on it really can be in the gutter and would shock most first time visitors just have a read of the bar reviews to get an idea which bars to stay away from and which are what you are into.

Sahara Bar - Soi CowboyAt Soi Cowboy you will find coyote dancers expensive to barfine and to buy a drink for the ridiculous prices quoted really means the manager doesn't want his staff leaving the bar for the night, regular dancers and bargirls are cheaper from 500฿ to 1000฿ depending on which bar you take a fancy to one of the women.

You will find some bargirls well into their 40’s if that's what your into. Soi Cowboy has a good atmosphere and for any tourist wanting experience a red light district of Bangkok then Soi Cowboy is a must see.

Sukhumvit Soi 23 the home of one of the most in your face go-go bars where many first time visitors will think they have died and gone to heaven, a must see bar. Within Soi 23 you can buy food and there is a scattering of bars all along Soi 23 and you can also enter Soi Cowboy via Soi 23.

Silom - Red Light District

Home to Patpong 1 and 2 is the oldest of the three red light districts in Bangkok with Patpong 1 housing a night market mixed in with go-go bars and beer bars, you can also watch some live music.

Patpong Soi 2 gogo dancersPatpong 2 has the best go-go bars of the 2 Soi’s just now, but doesn't have the same tourist feel as you walk along Patpong 2.

At Patpong you will have to be on guard with the ladyboys as there’re a few bars that have a mix of both ladyboys and regular females. You will find some very attractive women here and on average you would expect to pay around a 800฿ barfine to release the lady from the bar for the night. There is a good mix of beer bars here at Patpong so if your not interested in seeing a dancer hanging onto a chrome pole then you have plenty of choice.

Conclusion - Red Light District Bangkok

If you are just here as a tourist and want to have a really enjoyable night out in one of Bangkok's red light districts then Soi Cowboy wins hands down with a very good mix of bars and a real tourist atmosphere.

Throw in a visit to Patpong where you can stroll around the night market (ignoring the touts) before checking out one of the bars or heading to Silom Road where you will find many fine restaurants.

Now if you’re here solely for the women and plan to barfine bargirls during your stay in Bangkok then Sukhumvit Soi 4 is the best spot to set up a base, with so many reasonably priced Hotels within Soi 4 making it only a short walk back to your hotel from Nana Plaza or one of the Beer Bars within Sukhumvit Soi 4 Nana.
